Images from our garden
I was organizing photos on my laptop and found some 'unshared' garden images. So here's some pictures that I thought you might enjoy. First up: Our Nandina - a hardy little plant that produced the most beautiful colored leaves. This one was planted in a tall ceramic pot and was just always a pleasure when walking past.
This was our makeshift herb garden. If you look closely you can see there is ground underneath where the planters are. The reason for this is: we previously had the herbs in the ground but I found after some heavy rain that the drainage was non existent. I then found out from our landlord that this used to be a fish pond. So we moved the herbs out of the ground and into planters above. Once the drainage issue was sorted we had a steady supply of fresh basil, rocket and dill.
Some potted plants: 2 Ficus's and 1 Elephants foot (Portiularia afra). These plants were part of a long standing project. These pots are in a 'Bashew' crate that we 'abducted' from our wedding venue a couple of years back. These old crates give a very rustic appearance.
The next image is another Fig from the above-mentioned project. One of my favorites.
Im not sure of this succulents name but it came from one of my cousins, moved from garden to kitchen and then was finally immortalized on Instagram...hence the 'out of focus' smudging.
Since graduating, I have stayed in 5 different places. All of them not suited for proper outdoor gardening work either due to limited space or a settled garden (and I was not allowed to make any changes). This led me down the avenue of container gardening. And its been a satisfying road indeed. Here are some pictures of the patch work of containers called my garden.
And what good would ones place of rest be without a table and chairs?
